NEW! 3rd Grade Boys Developmental Program
MFYBA is pleased to announce a new developmental program for 3rd grade boys. The program will be split in two parts. The first will be a developmental track that will run from October until the end of the year. Players will typically have two practices per week and participate in 2 local tournaments. They will also receive a reversible uniform top. The second is beginning early January players will automatically be enrolled in the Recreational program. In this program, players will have one practice per week and Saturday games. Participation is limited to the first 24 players. There is a fee for this program.
The Junior Indians select program is usually limited to a maximum of two teams per grade level. This is based on the maxium number of teams that can participate per grade level in the area leauges. If there are enough interested, skilled players and volunteer coaches, the MFYBA will offer a Developmental Program. The program runs during the same time as the Junior Indians season. Players will receive two practices per week and will participate in tournaments in leu of a league. At the beginning of the Rec League season, the players will automatically transfer to the Rec League to finish out their season. The cost of the program includes a shirt, tournaments and participation in the Developmental Program and Rec League.
Summer School Basketball
The Summer School Basketball classes are free for all incoming 3rd - 8th grade boys and girls interested in playing basketball. The classes focus on improvement and are broken up into sections: individual/group skill work, basketball strategies and games. The classes are held in the mornings at the Menomonee Falls High School mid-June through mid-July. It is not required to attend the entire session. There are no classes the entire week of July 4th.
For members of the boys and girls Junior Indians only, the camps feature intense workouts aimed at improving individual skills, competitive team play, and skills competitions. The focus of the camps are on participating in high school skills and drills to prepare for the "next level". Each athlete will receive coaching from the MFHA Varsity Head Coaches and the coaching staff. Athletes will also get an opportunity to play alongside Varsity basketball players and be coached by them during drills and competitions. There is a fee for the camp. Each camper receives a t-shirt. The camp is usually held within the first few weeks after school is released for the summer. Camp registration information will be provided during Junior Indians tryouts in March/April.
10,000 Shot Club
Available to all incoming 4th - 8th grade Junior Indians players, the 10,000 Shot Club is a fun way to encourage and practice proper technique and form including alignment of the body, proper footword and hand positioning. Each 10,000 Shot Club achiever will receive special recognition at the half-time Varsity High School game, as well as a 10,000 Shot Club shirt. The program runs early-June through late-August. Forms and more information is sent after tryouts.
